![]() ![]() ![]() It is a perfect balance between vocals, instrumentals, and even lyrics. To finish the song there is a short guitar instrumental piece that fades. Then McGraw has his last verse, just him and guitar. She imitates McGraw by singing one verse and one chorus. Next there is a short instrumental piece building up to the next verse where Faith Hill begins to sing. ![]() Then Tim McGraw starts to sing in unison with the guitar for the first verse and the first chorus. The slow and steady time is set for the rest of the song, repeating throughout. The song starts out with a single instrumental piece played by a guitar. Like I expressed before, this song is full of love and passion and both McGraw and Hill do a beautiful job in portraying that simply by the way they sing to one another. The texture was also, in my opinion, a good idea for this particular song. This occurs during the chorus verses when they emphasize how “I Need You” to each other. As the song continues there are even single sections of the song where the meter goes from 2/4 to 1/4 to slow the song down even more, but this is very brief. The simplicity allows the listener to really focus in and listen to the guitar instrumental and the single voice in each verse. This is a perfect time signature for the song because it maintains the soft passionate love feeling the two have for one another simply by keeping a steady slow pace. Having little to no background in music I will be honest when I say I have some difficulty in singling out the beats and notes that a song is made up of, but I believe the meter used in this song is 2/4. As I began to listen to the music play I immediately recognized how steady the beat was. This song is a perfect example of just that. In my opinion, a song that is about love should be simple and slow allowing the listener to really focus on the lyrics and the passion from the voice or voices in the song making it easy to feel the love that the song is meant to express. The song is called “I Need You” and it is an expression of their love for one another. This is a duet between Tim McGraw and his wife Faith Hill. ![]()
